Level 1 (dark) is $30, level 2 (darker) is $35 and level 3 (darkest) is $40. Our pricing varies depending on the level. The salon associate can help you select the proper level of tanning solution to best match your skin tone. The advanced technology currently used in sunless tanning solutions is designed to ensure a natural, bronze tan. You will rarely see a penny of commission. Only the Florida associates regularly make their goals. Sales goals are pretty unrealistic for the upstate New York market. You aren't allowed to leave the building so always plan on bringing food that you probably won't have time to eat. We also don't get breaks, in the slow season we have time to sit down but it is usually too busy. The good employees end up leaving due to very little pay. What made me leave was the little pay, no raise, and being forced to work with rude associates that don't clean and are an absolute nightmare to be around. there are so many complaints because they wont allow managers to fire associates that are rude and disrespectful (to management, co workers and clients), don't clean, and constantly call in/drop shifts, refuse to take out the garbage, leave the salon filthy. There needs to be better screening with the hiring process. And with single coverage it creates alot of problems. Now a days people rarely do 2 week notice, the new generation in the work force just doesn't care. At this point everyone in town has pretty much worked at zoom tan and a majority of the applicants we get are pretty awful (there are a few good ones every now and then). One major issue with zoom tan is there turn over rate. She really cares about her staff and goes above and beyond and that is what made me stick it out. I stayed as long as I did because I had the best district manager. My location had some of the sweetest clients and is close to my home. I worked at zoom tan for little over a year. If it’s slow you can pick what you want to clean or if you need a break - more. Most of the time you work alone, but during busy season (usually mid-February to late May) you’ll need double coverage and you get to actually work with your coworkers. I also had a lot of luck with managers and coworkers and worked with some really awesome people who made it fun. You also can UV and spray tan for free and the products are half off which is nice. If you like talking to regular customers and you like tanning products, you’ll enjoy that aspect. As for positive things, it’s a fun place to work. If an emergency comes up the day of your shift or after you’re already there, you need to find coverage which can be really difficult if you’re currently dealing with an emergency. It helps to be knowledgeable about the products and if you’re the type of person who isn’t afraid to pitch a sale, however, if your client base just doesn’t have the money, it’s going to be difficult making your sales average to get that bonus. Sure, there are bonuses but it really depends on which salon you’re working at. I don’t think the average person could live on the pay without having additional income. ![]() There are some benefits for part time employees if you do work over 30 hours a week (dental insurance, not sure about medical) but for the most part, it was just a job to get me through school and then a second job until I was financially stable enough in my career. I worked at Zoom Tan all through college and for about a year post grad.
